Hello, my name is Darek Nyckowiak. I’m a Creative Director, Designer and Coder with strong technology background. I am fond of simplicity and clean structured design, consistently pushing for innovation, efficiency, precision and technical excellence. Experienced team leader, mentor. To sell the project internally in very traditional agency I knew I had to build a prototype and show technology working rather than just talk about it. I used beta version of Unity Engine and an Mercedes-Benz EQA prototype 3d model found made some basic UI, scaning, positioning and scaling in C# in Unity Engine. Prototype peaked the interest of Management internally and was presented to the client as an idea. Client wanted to pursuit it and build a configuration functionality.

After the prototype phase, next version of an iOS app had 3 cars (A-Class, GLC, EQA - Models that we found in-house from previous print campaigns), 3 paints and 3 wheels configuration options. Big part of the user experience is first time onboarding since ARKit in a new technology that

New Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system was first introduced in 2018 A-Class. Biggest feature of the UX is natural language voice assistant. To introduce it to the public we came up with an idea of creative webapp that gives users a glympse what they can expect from the system. Web Application using same voice as in car Nuance app introduces itself and in a brief conversation goes trough main A-Class features like moods.

I designed and coded first proof of concept with hardcoded conversation tree using Google Speech API for speech cecognition and response voice. This Minimum Viable Product was presented to the MB headquaters. As the next step we implemented more Machine Learning using Google Dialogflow platform and used Nuance MB voice for responses. Concept was possible on iOS devices thanks to new iOS 11 that gave the browser opportunity to access microphones on iPhones.

HERE is one of the World’s leading mapping, navigation and location data brands. For their exhibition at CES 2017, they needed an engaging experience that would capture their visitors at the centre of their booth experience. It needed to portray their future brand vision while relating to 10 interactive demo stations surrounding it.

We created a two-storey (6 meter) LED totem with 3 sides, 9 different content stories, 16 mins worth of unique randomly displayed content, and interactive floor projections that reacted to users as they moved around it. I was responsible for strategy leading to concept and technical specification.

Keeping the Smart brand values close to heart Acne developed a functional, innovative and visionary design for the relaunch / restructuring of Smart Magazine. The approach focuses on the quality of the brand to create a magazine experience that is both pure and aesthetic, as well as visually stunning to engage users and elevate their overall response to the magazine. The attention is directed at a more mobile approach, but keeps the responsive element of the concept in mind to engage users across all platforms and devices.

As the web landscape becomes increasingly complex, it's becoming extremelyimportant to deliver solid web experiences to a growing number of contexts. Thankfully, responsive web design gives web creators some tools for making layouts that respond to any screen size. We'll use fluid grids, flexible images and media queries to get the layout looking great regardless of the size of the device's screen dimensions.

The homepage and the menu are customisable hubs: Modular construction will allow the arranging of the order and size of modules based on the different themes or issues. Flexible content is a powerful tool from a marketing point of view. Serving new categories and content as they are released in the magazine.

Creating a brand vision for Audi that revolutionises not only how it sells product, but also how it engages with it’s customer base. Audi asked Razorfish Berlin to come up with immediate (2), 5 and 10 year plan for diversification and increased relevance with their customer base. We engaged the client with initial tissue sessions and workshops, drawing user journeys and plans by hand (sometimes live) to encourage debate and participation. These learnings were then adding into more polished designs and strategies.

I was invited to concept and design UX/UI Ideas shaping future digital services in Audi ecosystem. Conversational AI-powered interfaces.

Major Polish fashion holding LPP launched its Brand Reserved in Germany with a special event night at Berlin Fashion Week 2014. Hosted at the historical Alte Münze factory building in Berlin Mitte the event featured a fashion show with top model Georgia May Jagger.

More than 1200 fashion show guests attended the launch party and experienced the show as well as a setup of several interactive installations and a bunge of large scale video projections all over the place.

I was responsible for Concept, Art Direction and Design. We had four type of spaces to play with. For the entrance corridor we came up with rows of addressable LED strips placed on the walls along the walls. People walking along it

We came up with a concept that merges two major topics of Berlin - Music & Technology. What-a-track was the outcome of this collaboration, an interactive VR experience that let's you compose your own track by whacking globes in a zero gravity ball pit.

Installation was part of a Virtual Reality lecture at Berlin's Tech Open Air.

In May 2014 thirty of more than 1000 applicants had the chance to prove they have nerves of steel and win a brand new Samsung Galaxy S5. On a set located in Zurich the contestants had to face the S5 Pulse Challenge – a thrilling show to test peoples coolness and intrepidity. Rules were quite simple: Just keep your pulse below 100 bpm and remain seated!

The Samsung Galaxy S5 – world’s first smartphone with an integrated heart rate sensor – measured the pulse of each contestant. We designed an interactive chair to integrate the interface hardware as well as multiple cameras. An Interactive-Live-Stream-Experience brought the show to the online audience. It provided general information related to the product and show as well as different views of the challenge, options to magnify camera streams, social media integration… you name it.

Changing attitude towards data privacy

Many services we use on the Internet are free; or at least, they appear to be. In fact, we pay for accounts such as email and social media with our personal and business data, which we allow providers to gather and monetize every time we agree to a “terms of service” (ToS) contract. Lately, however, this model has come under scrutiny; in the aftermath of Edward Snowden's leaks, the public has grown more concerned about how much data is being gathered and who has access to it. We worked in Design Sprint format.

Only 8 percent of people “always” read the terms of service contracts all the way through before agreeing to them. However, most people strongly opposed the most common data collection practices listed in these contracts, once those practices were explained. Nevertheless, only 8 percent said they were “very likely” to pay for a service that did not collect their personal data.

Acne was responsible for Adidas Y3 and Porshe Design Sport online presence. That included official website and campaign sites, social media, newsletters. For three seasons I was responsible for Creative Direction, Art Direction and Lead Design on Campaign Hub, Online Store and Social media channels.

Online store was a collaboration with YOOX that provided backend and payment fuctionalities.

We conveyed a workshop that goal was to look for new methods of interaction with a car. As a result we diagnosed that there is a missing link between car app and an actual vehicle. That's how idea of the Speach Assistant Car Key was born.

My role was setting up a workshop. Product Design and Product Prototype initially as MercedesMe app interface.

Digital Cube Concepts

For the launch of the new G-Class we decided that the car with the strongest DNA needs something that celebrates its unique genes. Result: a worldwide campaign as iconic as the car’s striking elements. The Amber Cube. 46 tons of resin plus one of the very first Gs with the legend’s original DNA. A timeless monument for a timeless car. I was responsible for digital concept around the installation. I was responsible for digital concepts (Copy, Design, Video) around the cube.
